FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Drake London reached 1,000 receiving yards in a single season for the first time in his career on Sunday.
In the second quarter, the third-year receiver caught a 14-yard pass from quarterback Michael Penix Jr. to reach the milestone. It was London's second reception of the night against the Washington Commanders. He needed 22 yards coming into the game to match the 1,000-yard total.
London was close to reaching this mark in his second year but finished the 2023 campaign with 905 yards, following up his 866-yard rookie season. Entering Week 17, just 11 wide receivers racked up triple-digit receiving yards. London ranked No. 17 in yards amongst wideouts beginning the game with 978.
In his march to 1,000 yards, London has posted fives games of at least 70 receiving yards. He recorded a career-high 154 yards in Atlanta's Week 5 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The 1,000-yard breakthrough comes in a breakout year for London. The wide receiver had already racked up career highs with seven touchdowns and 119 targets ahead of the matchup against the Commanders. London often envisions his goals; this milestone was one of them in his third season.
