Drew Dalman designated to return to practice

Dalman has been on injured reserve with an ankle injury since Week 4.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Falcons have designated starting center Drew Dalman to return to practice, the organization announced Wednesday.

Dalman has been on injured reserve since suffering an ankle injury in the Falcons' Week 3 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. He played on 31% of the offensive snaps in that game before Ryan Neuzil took over at center. Neuzil has started every game at center since.

Dalman has started 34 games for Atlanta in the four seasons since he was selected in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

According to league rules, when a player is designated to return to practice, it opens a 21-day window in which the player must be activated to the 53-man roster or be placed on season-ending reserve at the end of that three week period.

When asked about Dalman's status Monday, head coach Raheem Morris said Dalman is "progressing back towards health."

"I really feel good about him," Morris said. "We had a couple good workouts with him, with the trainers and things of that nature, so we'll see where that goes."

In other transaction news, the Falcons signed linebacker Tyreek Maddox-Williams to the practice squad. In a corresponding move, Atlanta released offensive lineman Matthew Cindric from the practice squad.
