Each month during the season, the Atlanta Falcons will select a player who has participated in community activities, shown a commitment to giving back to the community and/or went above and beyond on a particular visit. The Atlanta Falcons Community All-Star can be any player on the Falcons roster.
For the month of September, the Atlanta Falcons Community All-Star is TE Michael Palmer. Palmer kicked off the month by purchasing preseason tickets and food vouchers for the Locust Grove High School football team who lost a fellow teammate. Additionally, he extended the same offer to another high school that experienced a similar situation but they were unable to attend the game due to a scheduling conflict.
Nevertheless, Palmer sent a video message to the team and purchased Falcons T-shirts. Palmer also participated in the Falcons' September 11 commemorative event which honored Atlanta Fire Departments. Additionally, he donated 25 of his Extra Yard Partnership tickets to the firefighters for the Philadelphia Eagles and the upcoming Green Bay Packers games. Finally, during the annual Rookie Club dinner, Palmer was on hand to offer his perspective on the importance of giving back to the community.
"Any chance I can give back to the community, I love to jump on the opportunity," Palmer said. "As a professional athlete, I have a real chance to make a difference and I plan to take advantage of it."
On Monday, December 5, each of the Atlanta Falcons Community All-Star winners this season will be recognized at the annual Community Honors dinner and will be considered for the Atlanta Falcons Man of the Year award.
