STELLAR STATS

— The Falcons' 27-point margin of victory is the largest since their 43-6 win against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 12 of the 2020 season.

— Falcons inside linebacker Kaden Elliss had one sack against the Giants, extending his streak to four consecutive games, the longest active streak in the NFL.

— Running back Bijan Robinson is the first Falcons player since running back Warrick Dunn in 2005 to have 11 games with at least 100 yards from scrimmage. Robinson is also the first Falcons player since running back Devonta Freeman to have 10 rushing touchdowns in a single season. Freeman had 11 during the 2016 season.

— With safety Jessie Bates III's 55-yarder in the second quarter and outside linebacker Matthew Judon's 27-yarder in the third quarter, the Falcons had two pick-sixes in a single game for the first time since 1983. That's the only other time in franchise history. ... Also, only one other team has had two pick-sixes in a single game this season: The Denver Broncos in their Week 13 win against the Cleveland Browns. … Even more from this, Judon is the first Falcons player since outside linebacker Kroy Biermann in 2011 to record a pick-six and a sack in the same game. Biermann did so in the Falcons’ Week 1 win against the Chicago Bears.

OBSCURE FACTS

— For the first time in 12 years, two left-handed quarterbacks started in the same week: Michael Penix Jr. with the Falcons and Tua Tagovailoa with the Miami Dolphins. According to sports reporter Ari Meirov, the last lefties to do so were Michael Vick with the Philadelphia Eagles and Tim Tebow with the New York Jets in 2012. All were first-round draft picks.

— Besides Penix, only one other rookie quarterback has led the Falcons to a double-digit victory in his first NFL start, and that was Matt Ryan in Week 1 of the 2008 season when Atlanta beat the Detroit Lions, 34-21.

— The Falcons now have eight wins in 2024, with two games remaining on their regular-season schedule. It's their highest victory total since 2017, the last time Atlanta made the playoffs.

— The Giants are amid a 10-game losing streak, their longest in franchise history.

QUOTING RAHEEM MORRIS

On whether it was a relief to have quarterback Michael Penix Jr. play the way he did…

"It was more fun to watch than actual relief. It wasn't relief. For me, it was more of just a sense of pride."

QUOTING THE FALCONS

Outside linebacker Matthew Judon

On the whole defense celebrating his pick-six in the end zone…

"Honestly, I'm not having a year of rushing the passer like I'm used to having. But they never get down on me, they don't look down on me. So, shoutout to my team. They're always saying, 'Man, we're going to do it with you.'"

Quarterback Michael Penix Jr.

On whether he felt any moments of nervousness in first start…

"You do feel that stuff, but once I hit the field, it goes away. It's the game I've been playing since I was 5 years old. Obviously, it's different, it's at a high level, but it's the same game. I've just got to go out there and execute."

QUOTING THE OPPONENT

Giants head coach Brian Daboll

On how much the Falcons' offense was able to move the ball…

"I think they just controlled the game. When we came out, it was 17-7 at half. We give up the touchdown, it was 24-7 early on. They were able to control the game."

Giants quarterback Drew Lock

On trying to stop negative momentum…

"After the first drive, we scored a touchdown, so I think momentum was really high there. But momentum shifted after that pick-six. It was our job to go get it back. Kept battling, and it just never flipped for us."
