Falcons to Honor Military, Families of 9/11 Victims

Sept. 11, 2016 will mark the 15th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. In remembrance, the Falcons will spend this weekend honoring the United States military, the first responders and everyone who lost their lives on that tragic day.

On Saturday, three families directly touched by the tragedy will visit Flowery Branch to view walkthroughs and meet the team. Prior to Sunday's game at the Georgia Dome, an honorary captain from each family will participate in the opening coin toss.

The honorary captains will be Ms. Bea Woolen, sister of Sergeant Tamara C. Thurman; Imani Taylor, daughter of Lorisa Taylor; and Tatiana Dawson, daughter of Calvin Dawson.

Fans are encouraged to be in their seats for the National Anthem, during which 125 soldiers from Fort Benning will carry an American flag across the entire field.

And before the 1 p.m. kickoff, everyone watching at the stadium and at home will see a special video message from President Barack Obama.
