Falcons use standard practice squad elevation on 2 defenders

Atlanta is set to play Tampa Bay at 1 p.m. ET at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday.

ATLANTA — The Falcons have used a standard practice squad elevation on two defenders, defensive lineman Demone Harris and cornerback Natrone Brooks.

This is the second time in just as many weeks that both Harris and Brooks have been elevated to the game day roster, having done so prior to last week's game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Harris got in on the action within the Falcons' defensive line rotation, playing in 43% of Atlanta's defensive snaps last Sunday. He recorded one quarterback hurry in the loss. Meanwhile, Brooks took 16 special teams snaps.

The Falcons-Buccaneers game is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.

16x9 (3)

Previous 2024 practice squad elevations include:

  • Week 1: defensive back Kevin King and wide receiver Chris Blair
  • Week 2: safety Dane Cruikshank
  • Week 3: none
  • Week 4: offensive lineman Matt Hennessy
  • Week 5: Hennessy and inside linebacker Josh Woods
  • Week 6: Hennessy and King
  • Week 7: Harris and Brooks

As a reminder, teams can elevate up to two practice squad players per game. Each player can only be elevated a max of three times. If a fourth time comes up, the player must be signed to the active roster.

The Falcons will release their inactives list 90 minutes prior to the start of the game Sunday. It is then that the status of starters Justin Simmons (hamstring) and Ryan Neuzil (knee) will be officially revealed. Simmons was listed as doubtful on the team's Friday game report, while Neuzil was questionable.
