FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons signed tight end Feleipe Franks, the organization announced Thursday.

Franks is a repeat Falcons member, having previously joined Atlanta as an undrafted free agent in 2021. He entered the NFL as a quarterback but, within his first season, Franks was moved into his current position. He also picked up special teams responsibilities.

So, Franks, standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing in 228 pounds, provides a versatile option for the Falcons in two phases of the game.

The 27-year-old's resume is brief, however, with just three seasons of rather limited work.

As a rookie in Atlanta, Franks played in nine games, taking 14 offensive and 36 special teams snaps. He had just three carries for 6 rushing yards and attempted one pass that was intercepted.

In 2022, Franks appeared in 11 games, starting one. He took 54 offensive and 91 special teams snaps. His sole carry gained no yards, and he was targeted twice but did not catch either pass.

Franks was placed on injured reserve due to a calf injury prior to the 2023 season and ultimately didn't play at all for Atlanta that year.

The Carolina Panthers signed Franks in 2024. He played in all but one game, taking 45 offensive and 305 special teams snaps. He caught one of his three targets for 12 yards. That first career reception came in the Panthers' Week 18 overtime win against the Falcons.

Atlanta currently has Kyle Pitts and Charlie Woerner rostered as their tight ends. Franks could provide depth for that position group. However, his history shows special teams is where Franks' value truly lies.
