FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons re-signed defensive lineman Kentavius Street, the organization announced Monday.
The 28-year-old is bound for his seventh active year in the NFL and his third season with the Falcons.
The Falcons originally acquired Street through a midseason trade in 2023. Atlanta sent the Philadelphia Eagles a 2024 sixth-round draft pick in exchange for Street and a 2025 seventh-round draft pick.
At the time, Atlanta needed a defensive tackle after veteran Grady Jarrett sustained a season-ending injury in the Falcons' Week 8 loss to the Tennessee Titans. Street's first start and appearance for the Falcons came in the Falcons' Week 9 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Street started five consecutive games before landing on injured reserve, himself, after sustaining a pectoral injury in the Falcons' Week 14 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In those five starts, Street made 14 tackles, four of which were for a loss, along with a sack, pass breakup and fumble recovery.
The Falcons saw enough that they signed Street to a one-year deal during the 2024 offseason.
Last season, Street appeared in 13 games. With Jarrett back, Street did not have any starting opportunities. Regardless, Street made 15 tackles, again four of which were for a loss, in addition to a sack.
Street's return comes at a good time considering Jarrett was released by the Falcons and signed with the Chicago Bears last week. The defensive line room, therefore, is currently highlighted by Street, David Onyemata, Ruke Orhorhoro and Brandon Dorlus. Morgan Fox is reportedly signing with the Falcons, too.
Before coming to Atlanta, Street played that partial season for the Eagles in 2023, a season for the New Orleans Saints in 2022 and three seasons for the San Francisco 49ers from 2019-21. The 49ers drafted Street with a fourth-round pick in 2018, but he did not see any field time as a rookie due to a knee injury that placed him on the non-football injury list before the season began.
Across his career, which features 10 starts and 78 appearances so far, Street has totaled 104 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 15 quarterback hits and 8.5 sacks.
