NFL Power Rankings Week 8: Lions, Ravens vie for top spot; Bills, Commanders rebound

The elite offenses are taking over, and the Falcons fall back to the pack with a big game ahead.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Listen closely. Do you hear that humming?

It's the sound of the NFL's top offenses firing on all cylinders. Nine teams scored more than 30 points on Sunday, and the best teams have shown multiple ways to win and look good doing it. Injuries could shape up the NFL landscape in the weeks to come, which is a pivotal stretch as teams continue to jockey for playoff position.

The Atlanta Falcons have a big rematch with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ahead in Week 8, and they'll look to bounce back from a loss to the Seahawks with their fourth division win already this season.

Here are my updated NFL power rankings after Week 7.

Week 8 Power Rankings 16x9
(5-1)
1
1
Lions_table
Detroit Lions
There's not a scarier team in the NFL right now.
(5-2)
2
1
Ravens_table
Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore has scored at least 30 points in four straight games, including two 40-plus-point outings.
(5-1)
3
2
Vikings_table
Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings were a last-second field goal away from staying undefeated and beating the Lions. They are legit.
(6-0)
4
Chiefs_table
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs were efficient on offense and forced three turnovers. They find ways to win.
(5-2)
5
1
Packers_table
Green Bay Packers
The Packers overcame three turnovers and eight penalties, and they have as many offensive options as any team.
(5-2)
6
4
Washington_table
Washington Commanders
Jayden Daniels' rib injury is concerning, but the offense was still humming without him.
(5-2)
7
5
Bills_table
Buffalo Bills
The arrival of Amari Cooper and emergence of Keon Coleman has me feeling a lot better about the Bills' offense.
(5-2)
8
3
Texans_table
Houston Texans
Houston showed it can hang against a good team even when C.J. Stroud has an off day.
(4-2)
9
Bears_table
Chicago Bears
I can't wait to see if the Bears continue their ascent coming off the bye week.
(5-2)
10
3
Steelers_table
Pittsburgh Steelers
Russell Wilson's debut was pretty impressive. If the offense starts clicking, the Steelers will be very tough to beat.
(4-3)
11
3
Bucs_table
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
If Chris Godwin and Mike Evans are out for significant periods of time, it would be a huge blow for the Bucs.
(4-2)
12
3
Eagles.png
Philadelphia Eagles
Running the offense through Saquon Barkley is a fantastic strategy, and Philly's defense dominated the Giants.
(4-3)
13
6
Seahawks_table
Seattle Seahawks
Seattle looked like the team that started the year 3-0 on Sunday, and played great complementary football.
(4-3)
14
7
FALCONS
Atlanta Falcons
Self-inflicted mistakes have been a common theme in Atlanta's losses, and coming out flat didn't help matters.
(4-3)
15
2
Broncos_table
Denver Broncos
Bo Nix: 1,246 passing yards, 5 TDs and 5 INTs in his first seven starts. Tim Tebow: 1,177 yards, 10 TDs and 4 INTs in his.
(3-4)
16
4
Bengals_table
Cincinnati Bengals
No team would be happier to be 4-4 next week than the Bengals, and the Eagles are a good litmus test.
(3-4)
17
6
49ers_table
San Francisco 49ers
There's no shame in losing to Kansas City, but that's why the early losses to the Rams and Cardinals are big.
(3-3)
18
4
Chargers_table
Los Angeles Chargers
The good news: The offense came alive in a refreshing way. The bad news: The usually reliable defense fell apart late.
(4-3)
19
3
Colts_table
Indianapolis Colts
Even after the win, the Colts slip back a bit. The offense really struggled against a good Dolphins defense.
(3-3)
20
2
Cowboys_table
Dallas Cowboys
How the Cowboys perform after stewing on that blowout loss to the Lions for two weeks will be very revealing.
(3-4)
21
3
Cardinals_Table
Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals feel like the group that gives all but the best teams a good game but never quite put it all together.
(2-5)
22
1
Jets_table
New York Jets
New York's defense is nowhere near the caliber it was last year, and Aaron Rodgers is doing as much harm as good.
(2-4)
23
4
Rams_table
Los Angeles Rams
If Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua can come back at full strength, the Rams could be a second-half sleeper.
(2-5)
24
4
Jaguars_table
Jacksonville Jaguars
They were all smiles in the final minutes of their win against the Patriots, but there's still a lot of work to be done.
(2-5)
25
3
Giants_table
New York Giants
The Giants have done a good job hanging in games, but that wasn't the case on Sunday.
(2-4)
26
1
Dolphins_table
Miami Dolphins
Should Tua Tagovialoa return in Week 8? That's a big question this week, and the Dolphins need it to happen.
(2-5)
27
4
Saints_table
New Orleans Saints
Injuries have left the Saints as a shell of the group that started the season, and they are playing like it.
(2-5)
28
2
Raiders_table
Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders reportedly signed Desmond Ridder on Monday night.
(1-5)
29
Titans_table
Tennessee Titans
Tennessee's defense has allowed the fewest yards this season. Unfortunately, its offense has gained the fewest yards.
(1-6)
30
Browns_table
Cleveland Browns
Cleveland got Nick Chubb back and lost Deshaun Watson for the year. Will that shake things up?
(1-6)
31
Patriots_table
New England Patriots
New England started fast but quickly faded against Jacksonville. Drake Maye looked good, though.
(1-6)
32
Panthers_table
Carolina Panthers
Chuba Hubbard might be the only bright spot on this team.
