FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Falcons held a walkthrough Tuesday in preparation to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this coming Thursday night. Because of this, the Falcons' Tuesday injury report was an estimation based on what it would have been had the team actually practiced.
So, with that being said, the only player who was not participating in the walkthrough was inside linebacker Troy Andersen. He left last Sunday's win over the Saints with a knee injury after putting together arguably his best performance as a Falcon, accumulating a career-high 16 total tackles and an important pick-six.
Asked about Andersen on Monday, head coach Raheem Morris said Andersen will be day-to-day in his recovery. If Andersen cannot play Thursday (and since Nate Landman is already on injured reserve), the Falcons will have to count on fifth-round draft pick JD Bertrand to fill the starting spot alongside Kaden Elliss.
Bertrand has been a primary special teams contributor through four games this season, but took eight defensive snaps in the wake of Andersen's injury last Sunday.
The Falcons also added needed depth at inside linebacker by signing former Falcon Rashaan Evans to the practice squad. Evans started 17 games for the Falcons in 2022 in Dean Pees' system. He had 159 tackles (six for a loss) and two sacks.
In other estimated injury report news, the Falcons kept Bijan Robinson (hamstring), Ray-Ray McCloud (ankle) and Kaleb McGary (knee) listed as limited participants for the second day in a row.
McGary missed Sunday's win with his injury. Storm Norton filled in for him at right tackle. That would remain the plan moving forward if McGary can't give Thursday a go.
