Each month during the 2013 season, the Atlanta Falcons will select a player who has participated in community activities, shown a commitment to giving back to the community and/or went above and beyond on a particular visit. The Atlanta Falcons Community All-Star can be any player on the Falcons roster.
The Atlanta Falcons Community All-Star for the month of September is DE Jonathan Massaquoi. Massaquoi participated in numerous community activities throughout the month. He spoke to 100 students at his alma mater, Richards Middle School in Lawrenceville, GA. He stressed the importance of education while encouraging them to reach for their dreams. He also attended a military appreciation event at the Clay National Guard in Marietta, GA with several of his teammates. Massaquoi played video games with soldiers in the Middle East via webcam, signed autographs and took photos with members of the Georgia Army National Guard. The group also enjoyed a special private lunch with members of the Georgia Army National Guard prior to the event. Lastly, he visited with students at SCANA Energy's Homework Center at Nesbit Elementary in Tucker, GA. He read children's books to the students, talked about the importance of education and answered questions.
On Monday, December 16, each of the Community All-Star Winners will be recognized at the annual Atlanta Falcons Community Honors Dinner and one player will be named the 2013 Atlanta Falcons Walter Payton Man of the Year.
