The first XFINITY® Training Camp practice is officially in the books and the wide receiver group had a particularly strong showing. With 11 receivers currently on the roster, the Falcons are loaded with depth at this position.
The production of this specific group will play a vital role in the success of the offense this season. With the key offseason acquisition of Leonard Hankerson combined with the veteran leadership that Roddy White, Julio Jones and Devin Hester all bring, this group will be expected to lead the offense.
"I think we are going to be good," White said. "We have a lot of talented guys with me, Devin Hester, Leonard Hankerson and Julio Jones. It's been awesome the last couple of years. We just need our guys to play to the level of what they have been doing and we will be perfectly fine."
With an impressive grab during one of the 11-on-11 series, rookie Justin Hardy showed that he is ready to make an immediate contribution to the group. With 10 seasons under his belt, White is providing guidance to make sure the youngster is ready.
"Focus on the mental part of football. Once you get that down, then you can play fast," White said. "That's the thing we need him to do. A lot of the time when you are a rookie you tend to think too much, and it slows your pace down. You get the mental aspect down, you can get out there and run fast and play stress-free football, you tend to do a lot better."
