In his first season with the Falcons, Davison was a welcome addition to the team's interior defensive line. Davison, 27, started 12 games for Atlanta in 2019 and finished the year with a career-high 55 tackles and four tackles for a loss. He also earned a respectable season grade of 67.5 from Pro Football Focus, which ranked him second among Falcons interior defenders and 52nd among all defensive tackles.
The Falcons had the 12th-best run defense against runs up the middle in 2019, allowing 3.91 yards per carry. Davison played a large role in limited opponent's interior run games, and he formed an effective tandem with Pro Bowler Grady Jarrett. As Atlanta seeks to improve its pass rush this offseason, extending Davison could go a long way in maintaining the interior run defense next season.
