Dan Quinn announced Wednesday that punter Matt Bosher has been officially designated to return off of injured reserve this season, using one of the Falcons' two designations.
Bosher went on injured reserve due to a groin injury prior to the Falcons' Week 5 matchup against the Houston Texans. Upon receiving the designation to return, a 21-day clock starts for Bosher. By the end of those 21 days, Bosher must either be activated by the club on the 53-man roster or his season will officially come to an end.
The NFL mandates that eight games must pass once a player is placed on IR before the player can be activated. Those eight games have not yet passed for Bosher, so although he will be able to begin practicing, he can not yet play in a game. The first game Bosher will be eligible for return is Dec. 8 against the Carolina Panthers.
