According to a report by the NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Atlanta Falcons have signed defensive end Allen Bailey to a one-year contract extension.
Bailey, 31, joined the Falcons prior to the 2019 season after spending his career with the Kansas City Chiefs. During his first season in Atlanta, Bailey played in 15 games with five starts; he recorded 26 tackles with four tackles for a loss and one sack. In his his nine-year career, Bailey has recorded 233 tackles, 38 tackles for a loss, 20.5 sacks, seven fumble recoveries, six pass defenses and four forced fumbles.
Bailey will provide important depth for the Falcons at the defensive end position and has the versatility to shift inside on early downs. The Falcons also recently bolstered their pass rush with the addition of edge rusher Dante Fowler. Per Pelissero, by extending Bailey Atlanta frees up some additional cap space to possibly make additional moves in free agency.
