Die Ausgangslage: Die Atlanta Falcons (6-7) besuchen am Sonntag die Carolina Panthers (1-12). Nach einem Rückschlag gegen die Tampa Bay Buccaneers am vergangenen Sonntag haben die Falcons die Führung in der NFC South fürs Erste verloren. Es war eine äußerst frustrierende Niederlage für Atlanta. Mit nur noch vier verbleibenden Spielen müssen die Falcons ab jetzt jedes Spiel gewinnen, um ihre Chance auf den Divisionssieg zu wahren. Ein Auswärtssieg gegen das Schlusslicht ist somit Pflicht.

Der Gegner: Mit nur einem einzigen Sieg in dieser Saison haben die Carolina Panthers die schlechteste Bilanz in der gesamten NFL. Die Panthers verloren am vergangenen Wochenende mit 28-6 gegen die New Orleans Saints. Der Rookie-Quarterback Bryce Young schien von der Verteidigung der Saints überfordert zu sein. Panthers-Fans machen sich zunehmend Sorgen über Young und seine Leistungen.
Das Personal: Nach dem harten Kampf gegen die Bucs haben die Falcons immer noch mit einer Reihe von Verletzungen zu kämpfen. Head Coach Arthur Smith gab bekannt, dass Chris Lindstrom (Knöchel) und Jake Matthews (Knie) "eine gute Chance" besitzen, in Carolina zu spielen. Bei Nate Landman (Knie), David Onyemata (Knöchel) und Kaleb McGary (Knie) müssen sie unterdessen den Verlauf der Woche abwarten. Drew Dalman und Jeff Okudah sind beide fraglich aufgrund von Knöchelverletzungen. Kentavius Street fällt definitiv mit einer Brustmuskelverletzung aus, während LaCale London an einer Knieverletzung laboriert.

- Die beiden Franchises haben bereits 57-mal gegeneinander gespielt. Die Falcons führen mit 36-21 Siegen in die Gesamtbilanz.
- Die Falcons haben drei der letzten vier Aufeinandertreffen mit den Panthers gewonnen.
- Die Falcons sind das einzige NFL-Team, das in den letzten drei Spielen jeweils einen Touchdown von über 20 Yards durch Receptions erzielte: Kyle Pitts 36-Yard-TD vs. Bucs, Bijan Robinson 20-Yard-TD vs. Jets, MyCole Pruitt 26-Yard-TD vs. Saints.
- Gegen die Bucs erreichte Wide Receiver Drake London Karrierehöchstwerte mit insgesamt 172 Receiving-Yards und 10 Receptions. Seine vorherige Bestleistung in dieser Saison lag bei 125 Receiving-Yards durch neun Receptions gegen die Washington Commanders. Londons 172 Receiving-Yards machen ihn zum ersten Falcons-Spieler seit Julio Jones, der mehr als 170 Receiving-Yards in einem Spiel erzielte.
