Trotz dreier Fumbles in der Red Zone feierte Desmond Ridder den ersten Auswärtssieg in seiner Karriere. Die Atlanta Falcons fuhren einen mitreißenden 16:13-Sieg gegen die Tampa Bay Buccaneers ein – dank eines weiteren entscheidenden Field Goal von Kicker Younghoe Koo in der letzten Sekunde.
Head Coach Arthur Smith ehrte seinen mental starken Quarterback Ridder, der letzte Woche drei Interceptions geworfen hatte.
Smith lobte: "Ich weiß, dass Desmond tough ist. Er ist ein Gewinnertyp. Er hat heute einige wichtige Pässe geliefert, besonders als wir sie gegen Ende des Spiels gebraucht haben. 1. VIERTEL – Ridder rennt nochmal zum Touchdown
Die Falcons starteten ins Spiel mit einer frühen Führung, da sie zum zweiten Mal in Folge einen Touchdown mit dem ersten Drive erzielten. Quarterback Desmond Ridder besorgten den wichtigen Touchdown mit einem 2-Yard-Lauf in die Endzone selbst. Tampa Bay antwortete brillant, als Baker Mayfield seinen Wide Receiver Mike Evans aus 40 Yards fand, um das Spiel auszugleichen.

2. VIERTEL – Knappes Spiel
Ridder fand Scotty Miller tief im Spielfeld für einen 46-Yard-Gewinn - der längste erfolgreiche Pass für Atlanta in dieser Saison. Allerdings stockte die Offensive der Falcons in einer Goal-to-Go-Situation und der erfahrene Kicker Koo verwandelte einen 24-Yard-Field Goal, um Atlanta mit 10:7 in Führung zu bringen. Die Buccaneers konterten und kamen bis zur 6-Yard-Linie der Falcons. Atlanta zwang Tampa Bay dazu, den Kicker Chase McLaughlin für ein 24-Yard-Field Goal aufs Spielfeld zu schicken und das Spiel wurde zum zweiten Mal ausgeglichen.
Die Falcons kamen kurz davor, die Führung vor der Halbzeit zurückzuerobern, als sie die Red Zone erreichten, aber Ridder verlor den Ball bei einem Sack und die Chance verschwand. Atlanta ging also weiterhin ohne eine Pausenführung in die Halbzeit. Runningback Bijan Robinson hatte in der ersten Halbzeit weder einen Lauf noch ein Target und laut Smith "fühlte er sich einfach nicht so großartig."
Halbzeitstand: 10:10 Unentschieden
3. VIERTEL – Die Falcons übernehmen knapp die Führung
Die Defense blieb stark, als Linebacker Nate Landman einen Fumble des Buccaneers-Wide Receivers Deven Thompkins erzwang und LaCale London den losen Ball für die Falcons eroberte.
Das gab der Atlanta-Offense eine weitere Chance, konnte sie aber nicht nutzen. Die Falcons waren an der 1-Yard-Linie der Buccaneers, als Ridder den Snap verpasste und den Ball verlor.
Die Falcons-Defense hielt jedoch weiterhin stand und Koo erzielte ein 41-Yard-Field Goal. Atlanta ging mit 13:10 in Führung. Zum ersten Mal in dieser Saison führten die Falcons vor dem finalen Viertel.
Endstand 3. Viertel: 13:10 Falcons
4. VIERTEL – Die Falcons feiern dramatischen Last-Minute-Sieg
Baker Mayfield wurde gesackt und Ridder übernahm den Ball an der 7-Yard-Linie. Der Quarterback war der Aufgabe gewachsen und fand Allgeier mit einem großartigen 46-Yard-Wurf. Ridder sprintete gelassen in die Endzone, doch Antoine Winfield Jr. schlug den Ball los. Die Offiziellen entschieden, dass Winfield Jr. legitim den Ball aus Ridders Händen geschlagen hatte (Fumble Nummer drei) bevor er die Endzone erreicht hatte. Viel zum Bedauern der Falcons eroberte Tampa Bay den Ball zurück, nachdem Atlanta kurzzeitig gedacht hatte, ihre Führung ausgebaut zu haben.
Angestachelt von einem 31-Yard-Scramble von Quarterback Baker Mayfield bewegte sich Tampa Bay tief in das Gebiet von Atlanta aber die Heimmannschaft musste sich mit einem 36-Yard-Field Goal von Kicker Chase McLaughlin begnügen, um das Spiel erneut auszugleichen. Spielstand 13:13.
Und so war die Bühne frei für Ridder: 45 Sekunden, zwei Timeouts, Beginn an seiner eigenen 25-Yard-Linie. Die Führung in der NFC South war in Gefahr. Ridder setzte einen blitzschnellen Pass zu Kyle Pitts für einen Gewinn von 39 Yards. Atlanta war nun in Reichweite für den zuverlässigen Koo. Konnte der Kicker erneut zum Helden werden?
Ja! Aus 51 Yards erzielte Koo sein neuntes spielentscheidendes Field Goal in den letzten drei Jahren und sein drittes in dieser Saison (gegen Green Bay, Houston und Tampa Bay).

Nach Ridders erstem Auswärtssieg in seiner Karriere stehen die Falcons bei einer Saisonbilanz von 4-3. Nächsten Sonntag treten sie im Nissan Stadium gegen die Tennessee Titans an.
